Two Saturday matches will kick off Serie A. The first one will be between two of the league’s best: AS Roma, Italian vice-champion, and AC Fiorentina, who finished the previous season in fourth place, just past the podium.

However, Roma still remains one of few who can put up a fight against Juventus in the national league. Their August sparings prove their high scoring skills – 14 goals in the last four matches is quite a feat. However, after Benatia’s departure, the squad coached by Rudi Garcia has also taken to losing goals – a threat their opponents will surely try to use.
AC Fiorentina
The team seems to have taken a turn of bad luck with the injury of their top striker, Giuseppe Rossi. However, even without him the squad has been doing very well in sparrings. They scored an unlikely 2-1 against Real Madrid, and also beat Betis Sevilla, Malaga and the Peruvian Universitario de Deportes.
In the new season, Fiorentina will be counting on Mario Gomez to score. The former Bayern striker could not call the previous season his best, as he only played nine matches due to injury. However, he still managed to score three times. Now, he is hoping to regain his skills.
Summary
The home team are the favorites, in large part due to the fact that they beat Fiorentina twice in the prvious season, first winning 2-1 in Rome and then 1-0 in Florence.
