Paraguay
In the last decade, the Paraguay team was considered to be at least a mid-range squad from the varied but strong South America. In World Cup eliminations, however, they did not show off that skill and did surprisingly poorly, taking the last – ninth spot in standings, and only raking up three wins in sixteen matches.
Their first friendly match of the year did all but make up for the previous failures. In a San Jose match against Costa Rica, the Paraguay squad’s disposition was much weaker than that of the home team. Worse statistics in nearly every aspect of the game cause to wonder whether Paraguay can face the better-prepared Cameroon team.
Summary
As is the case with many pre-World Cup friendlies, the two squads will be facing off on the pitch for the very first time. The reason for such a matchup is the desire of the Cameroon coach Finke to test his team against a South American rival before they have to take on the Mundial hosts, Brazil, at the group stage in June.
