ROUND OF 16: Brazil vs. Chile
Saturday marks the start of the Round of 16 in the FIFA World Cup 2014. The first clash will see the host team, Brazil, take on the squad from Chile.

Five-time World Champions are lucky – the knockout bracket has turned out perfectly for them, and their route to semifinals should not be difficult. However, any result but the ultimate trophy in a country where football is one of the key values will be a disaster.
The squad led by Luiz Felipe Scolari scored seven goals in the group phase, four of which went to the team’s biggest offensive star, Neymar. If the FC Barcelona player keeps it up, he might end up with the Golden Boot trophy. So far, the only other players from Brazil to get it were Ronaldo and Leonidas.
Chile
The Chileans secured their advancement to the Rund of 16 by repeating their 2010 result. They only got further than this once – over 50 years ago, when they got to third place at the 1962 World Cup. Beating Brazil would be a historical precedent.
La Roja has already surprised more than once at this tournament, so sucha result is not entirely out of the question. Brilliantly disposed, the squad bested Spain, defending World and European champions, 2-0. Combined with a 3-1 win over Australia and a 0-2 loss to the Netherlands, it got the squad to second place in Group B.
In this match, the squad is counting on their defensive and goalkeeping skills, and a bit of luck in the offense. The team’s coach, Jorge Sampaoli, realizes that the team works together to get goals – so far, five different players scored their total five goals. In the match that will decide quarterfinal brackets Chile should also play as a team, instead of hoping for just one player to excel.

Matches between the geographically close Brazil and Chile are basically bread and butter to South American football fans.
